MFS-EMMAUS DELIVERS 800 MEALS TO RESCUERS AND RESIDENTS OF KONJIC AND JABLANICA

Today, MFS-EMMAUS employees prepared and sent 800 meals to the flood-affected areas of Konjic and Jablanica.

Meals were delivered to the Civil protection of these municipalities at their request, and the largest part was distributed to rescuers, workers and volunteers who are actively working on cleaning the terrain, as well as to the population of these affected places.

We have committed to deliver hot meals to these locations every day, providing the necessary support in these difficult conditions.
In addition to hot meals, food and hygiene packages collected thanks to generous donations from citizens are also delivered.

20 MFS-EMMAUS volunteers worked today to restore a part of the water supply network in Konjic, one kilometer long. There are no roads, so they tried to provide pipes to the pool through forest areas. If they succeed, a good part of rural settlements and part of Konjic could get water. The groups of these volunteers also consist of people gathered around the informal group Help from Doboj Istok and Paths of salvation and freedom from Doboj. We hope that these joint efforts will contribute to the speedy re-establishment of basic infrastructure in the municipality affected by the recent problems.

Immediately on the first day after the accident, MFS-EMMAUS came to the aid of the population of Konjica, especially in the village of Buturović Polje, where, in cooperation with the municipal headquarters of civil protection and firefighting units, meals, water, blankets, sleeping bags, candles and other much-needed supplies were delivered food and hygiene packages. Supplies were also left at the fire station in Konjic for further distribution. Together with the volunteers of the informal group Doboj Istok, aid was delivered to the village of Ostrožac, Jablanica. After that, using quad bikes, the volunteers headed towards the villages of Malo and Veliko Mrakovo, six kilometers from Ostrožac, to deliver basic necessities to the victims.

Aid in the form of food, water, clothes and dryers was delivered to the Institute for the Care of Mentally Disabled Persons in Drin and to the Civil Protection in Fojnica, while several flooded families received food packages.

In the coming period, MFS-EMMAUS will continue with the daily delivery of meals, the collection of aid and, together with civil protection and volunteers, will work on the rehabilitation and reconstruction of houses damaged in this natural disaster.
