Future Schools of Today!

The project Future Schools of Today!, led by IFS-EMMAUS, addresses the outdated and largely theoretical education system in Bosnia and Herzegovina by introducing modern teaching methods and practical skills development for both teachers and students in Tuzla Canton.

The initiative will engage 35 schools mostly from rural areas of Tuzla Canton, 40 teachers, and 40 students (ages 14–18) through training, workshops, and hands-on experiences with the real sector.

Activities include:

  • Creating network of institutions, NGOS and other relevant stakeholders
  • 10 workshops for teachers on modern methodologies,
  • 12 training sessions for students focused on practical and vocational skills,
  • study visits, intergenerational trainings, and student-led projects,
  • 3 working sessions for NGO sector, institutions, schools where would be emphasized the current difficulties of the educational system in BiH, challenges and reccommendations for change
  • a final conference showcasing results and engaging stakeholders.

The overall goal is to empower teachers and students with market-relevant skills, strengthen connections between education and the labor market, and foster student motivation to continue their education. The project will last for 30 months starting from July 2025.

By promoting innovative, community-centered approaches, the project contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), ultimately creating a scalable model for education reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is supported by the Unicredit Foundation from Italy.
