The First Working Session of the “Future Schools of Today!” Project Held in Tuzla

The first working session within the project “Future Schools of Today!” was held last night at Hotel Salis in Tuzla. The project is implemented by MFS-EMMAUS with the aim of improving the quality of education, developing practical skills, and strengthening cooperation between schools and the real sector. The project includes 35 schools from rural areas of Tuzla Canton and involves 40 teachers and 40 students who are developing their professional capacities through trainings and workshops.

The working session titled “Education in Tuzla Canton – MYTHS, TRUTHS, OPPORTUNITIES, AND CHALLENGES” brought together representatives of key educational institutions and organizations:

  • Ministry of Education and Science of Tuzla Canton

  • Pedagogical Institute of Tuzla Canton

  • OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina

  • Center for Educational Initiatives – Step by Step

  • MIOS – Interactive Open Schools

The first part of the session focused on “Key Challenges in Education in Tuzla Canton,” with presentations by:

  • Alma Šehanović, Education Specialist, Pedagogical Institute of Tuzla Canton

  • Azra Musić, Program/Project Manager, MIOS – Interactive Open Schools

  • Namir Ibrahimović, Center for Educational Initiatives Step by Step

  • Sabina Nadžaković, Education Officer, OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Tuzla Office

The discussion was moderated by Tahir Žustra, a prominent Bosnian-Herzegovinian journalist.

In the second part of the session, participants engaged in interactive workshops focused on myths and truths in education, inclusion, digital learning, and innovation in teaching.

The project “Future Schools of Today!” is financially supported by the UniCredit Foundation (Italy) and is implemented in partnership with the Pedagogical Institute of Tuzla Canton, MIOS, the Center for Educational Initiatives Step by Step, and the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the approval of the Ministry of Education of Tuzla Canton.
