WE ARE BACK IN SYRIA

A delegation from MFS-EMMAUS recently completed a three-day visit to Syria, where they met with local institutions, partner organizations, and visited ongoing projects supported by our generous donors.

Joining our delegation on this important journey were representatives from several institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with whom we collaborate on various humanitarian initiatives both within the country and abroad.

The delegation included:
Nerin Dizdar, Minister for Refugees and Displaced Persons of the Federation of BiH
Adnan Delić, Minister of Labor and Social Policy of the Federation of BiH
Fadil Alić, Minister for Labor, Social Policy and Return of Tuzla Canton
Nisvet Mujanović, Assistant Minister for Refugees and Displaced Persons in the Federation of BiH
Jusuf Brkić, Advisor to the Minister of Labor and Social Policy of the Federation of BiH

The visit was hosted by our trusted partner organization Masrrat.

During the trip, meetings were held with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of Syria and the Governor of Aleppo, followed by visits to Masrrat’s field activities in Idlib and Aleppo.

In Idlib, the delegation also visited the humanitarian organization IHH and the Dar Al-Jasmin orphanage, whose operations are fully funded by MFS-EMMAUS with the help of an anonymous donor.

This visit reaffirmed our commitment to supporting the most vulnerable, regardless of borders, and strengthened partnerships that continue to bring hope and change to those in need.

One of the moving stops during our delegation’s visit to Syria was the “Umut” Educational Center in Idlib, dedicated to children with developmental disabilities.

Despite operating in extremely modest conditions, this center provides vital support to children with disabilities. Among its users are many children who lost limbs as a result of war and the devastating earthquake. Yet, despite their physical challenges, these children demonstrate a remarkable determination to learn and grow every single day. Some are even carried to and from their classrooms—proof of their unshakable commitment to education.

Many of these children were born and still live in makeshift tent settlements in the Idlib region. Though surrounded by hardship, their resilience and hunger for knowledge remain undiminished.

The visit to the “Umut” Center served as a powerful reminder of why our work matters—and how hope, when nurtured with compassion and support, can shine even in the most difficult circumstances.
