CONSTRUCTION OF WATER WELLS IN NIGER

At the beginning of the October, IFS-EMMAUS, in collaboration with A.A.S.H. (Cooperation for Humanitarian Service) from Niger launched an action of digging surface water wells in the African country of Niger. The result of that idea is a visit to Niger in 2018, when the IFS-EMMAUS team was ascertained of the living conditions of the local population, where they saw huge poverty, witnessed great droughts and infertile soil. Thanks to the trust of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and diaspora, as well as formal and informal Associations in BiH, in 2020 we managed to dig a total of 6 wells in the following places: two wells for the population in Chad, water well “SABUR” in Gorou Kaina, “Source of life” in Dagadjo, and “Zeid Karčić 2020” in Lonchiya beri. In addition to them in Tanbo, a water well was dug from smaller payments of our donors from BiH and donors outside the borders of our country. Digging water wells goes up to a maximum of 20 meters, and in most cases, water is found at depths up to 8 meters. Then it is installed hand pump, iron pipes and then follows concreting troughs for collecting water. One such surface water well can meet the capacity of 200 people. Thank our donors for their trust and support in further work and activities. We will continue the campaign in 2021.
