17th Emmaus – International Youth Work Camp in Potočari is opened

With the presence of guests, volunteers, employees and friends of IFS-EMMAUS, today was the opened the 17th International Youth Work Camp in a row. Coordinator of the camp, Haris Okanović wished a warm welcome at the very opening and thanked all participants for their participatory response.

 

Adem Mehmedović –  Head of The department of the social activities of the Srebrenica Municipality, and Emmanuel Rabourdin, representative of Emmaus Europe, addressed the attendees.  

 

The ceremonial act of opening of the camp was entrusted to the Prime Minister of Tuzla Canton, Irfan Halilagic, who expressed that it is a great honor and pleasure that he could open a camp like this one. He wished all participants a successful work, pleasant socializing and making new friendships in the coming days. He also praised the work of IFS-EMMAUS in the area of Srebrenica.

 

This year, 70 volunteers from all over BiH, Serbia, Turkey, France, England, Romania and Jordan will attend the camp, and they will stay in the capacities of our Boarding Accommodation in Potočari. Activities that will be realized during the camp are mainly of a labor character. In addition to labor, there are educational workshops and activities such as visits to the Memorial Centre – history classes, creative and art workshops, international evenings, entertainment activities, assistance in the houses of the beneficiaries of the project “Love for the Mothers of Srebrenica”, work on expansion of capacity, sports tournaments, excursions, etc. The camp in Srebrenica is a unique opportunity for young people to get to know each other, connect and help the local population with joint forces in building a better future, and all of that is enabled by IFS-EMMAUS for years now.
