Today, the Duje Reception Centre warmly welcomed friends, partners, and visitors who wished to learn more about the Centre’s work, its residents, and the daily life of a community that has been providing safety, care, and support to those most in need for more than two decades.
Numerous citizens, family members and friends of the residents, representatives of social welfare centres, healthcare and educational institutions, as well as representatives of associations and partner organizations, took the opportunity to tour the Centre, speak with residents and staff, and experience firsthand the atmosphere of mutual respect, togetherness, and care that is nurtured here every day.
A special contribution to today’s event came from the residents themselves, who prepared a cultural and entertainment programme for the guests.
Accompanied by music, smiles, and friendly conversations, visitors enjoyed a barbecue lunch, homemade desserts, and traditional Bosnian coffee served from Vispak’s famous Giant Zlatna Džezva, adding a unique touch to the warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Our volunteers ensured an enjoyable musical programme, while the youngest visitors had fun in a dedicated children’s corner.
Today, the Duje Reception Centre provides accommodation and comprehensive support to 480 residents. Over the years, nearly 2,000 people have passed through the Centre, receiving accommodation, professional care, and an opportunity to live with greater dignity.
Our residents include older adults, persons with disabilities, individuals with intellectual disabilities, as well as people facing various health and social challenges.
We sincerely thank everyone who joined us today and helped make this day so special. Your support, the time you dedicated, and the kindness you showed give us additional strength and reaffirm that together we can build a society free of prejudice.
Once again, the Open Day demonstrated that the Duje Reception Centre is much more than an institution—it is a home where smiles are shared, friendships are built, and the values of humanity and compassion are lived every day. Because when we share care, understanding, and love, happiness grows.
