IFS-EMMAUS provided funds that will be used to prepare food and procurement of hygiene products for people who live in tent settlement after destructive earthquake that affected Izmir.
A strong 6.6-magnitude earthquake shook the Aegean region of Turkey, killing 114 people. Intensive efforts of rescue teams that were immediately involved in the search for the victims under the rubble saved over 100 people, including two girls. Three-year-old Elif Perincek who was pulled out of the rubble after 65 hours and four-year-old Ayda Gezgin who was under the rubble for 91 hours.
Over 1000 people were injured and we unofficially find out that about 60 buildings and residential facilities were demolished or permanently damaged.
People have been housed on a safe location, to the relatives or in a tent settlement that is constantly taken care of and supplied with all necessary groceries, food and hygiene needs.
Even this time, IFS-EMMAUS showed its solidarity and reacted immediately in a crisis situation, because help is really necessary to these people, having on mind that they were left without family members, without homes and visibly traumatized.
GOOD THINGS WILL RETURN WITH BETTER THINGS.
