Due to the growing number of requests for assistance from the Una-Sana Canton, IFS-EMMAUS decided to open an office in Velika Kladuša, realizing the need for a physical presence in this region.
For many years, we have been distributing humanitarian aid for people in need in the area of Bihać, Cazin, Bužim and Velika Kladuša, helping people on the move through various forms of support. One of the first projects related to this area is scholarships for orphans where we have included 180 children / orphans that we sponsor through our donors.
By opening an office, IFS-EMMAUS wants to expand its project activities and act more presently in this field, facilitating access to socially vulnerable categories and developing cooperation with local public institutions and the non-governmental sector.
Thanks to the support of the Emmaus movement from Italy, we were able to ensure needed funds to open an office and start with a direct approach to work.
The goal of the IFS-EMMAUS office in Velika Kladuša is to strive to achieve our mission where we will create, support and revive such environments in which everyone, feeling free and respected, will be able to meet their needs and help each other.
Within the office was opened an operational Day care social center for people on the move / migrants. At the beginning of Ramadan, new colleagues in Velika Kladuša started an intensive distribution of food packages ensured through donors for people in need.
