IFS-EMMAUS sent humanitarian aid to Burkina Faso

The fifth shipping container of humanitarian aid for Burkina Faso in Africa, to one of the poorest countries in the world, set off today in front of IFS-EMMAUS capacity.

The aid consists of clothes and shoes that were collected before the pandemic from BiH citizens who donated their clothes and shoes to our humanitarian containers that were set up in places Srebrenik, Odžak and Vukovo – Tešanj.

Through the diligent work of IFS-EMMAUS employees and volunteers, all clothing has been sorted and packaged so that it can be more easily distributed to the mentioned population of Burkina Faso.

The population of Burkina Faso has been receiving help from IFS-EMMAUS for several years, thanks to BiH citizens and as well as our diaspora. Since 2014, when we started with this project, we have sent with today’s ship five ship containers of aid, which consists of school supplies and equipment, construction materials, textiles, clothing and footwear.

In addition, we collect scholarships for the education of several thousand children in the villages of Burkina Faso every year, and schoolarship for one child amounts only 30 BAM for one school year.

Thanks to the selfless support you have given us as the Association with the aim on providing help in achieveing basic education of children in Africa, for the 2019/2020 school year IFS-EMMAUS collected funds for 2,050 students in the villages of Goghin, Gasma, Tangseghin, Guesna and Napalgue in the West African state of Burkina Faso, which is a total number of 6,717 children with provided scholarships since year 2014.

At the end of October, payments for scholarships will be sent, which we managed to collect in the past period thanks to you, when this container also arrive, we hope, having on mind that it has a long way to go. It will be transported by truck to the Croatian port of Rijeka, then travel by boat to the Ivory Coast, where it will be loaded on a truck again for Burkina Faso.

Thanks to all the good people who support us in all our humanitarian missions. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a small country, but always ready to help because good things will return with better things.
