Valuable donation from the Federal Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees as a support in construction of the Centre for Elderly people in Potočari

The Federal Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees donated funds for the construction of a bungalow-house as part of the complex of the Centre for the Elderly people that we are building in Potočari. This is a really valuable donation from the Ministry and its realization has already started. In the past few days, the foundations for this facility have been measured and installed. We still have a lot of work to do concerning the completion of construction of this Centre, but donation like this, is surely a wind at our backs for the continuation and the realization of the project as soon as possible.

In order to remind you, IFS-EMMAUS is building the Centre for the Elderly and Helpless individuals in cooperation with the organization Stichting “Proplan” from the Netherlands, which also finances our project “Love for the Mothers of Srebrenica”.

These mothers / beneficiaries of the project certainly will have an advantage with the housing in the Centre and will be included in all forms of protection and services provided by the Centre.

Beneficiaries will have social and professional support 24/7 and there will be also provided medical services within the Centre in the Infirmary that has started operating.

The capacity of the Centre is 80 people. The complex will contain one large building with one-bedroom apartments (36 apartments), a facility for individuals with disabilities (8 double rooms), a restaurant with kitchen and offices, 8 houses for 4 people, a facility for creative workshops, and other needed facilities such as laundry, boiler room, warehouse, etc.

The most modern Centre of this type, with a capacity for 80 people, is designed, according to European standards, and every day it rises from the ground, combined of functional and modern. The complex, on which the world’s Centres for the care and nursing of the elderly can envy, will represent a tremendous progress in the local community, and its opening is planned for July 2021.
