Users of internet accommodation and day care in Potocari are also celebrating Children’s Sunday this year

Children’s Week is celebrated every year in the first week of October, and the aim of the event is to promote the rights of the child, improve social care for children and strengthen the responsibilities of all subjects of protection, as well as informing the general public about the needs of children, their psychosocial growing up on equal terms.

This manifestation is also a distraction and an indication of the responsibility of family, state, school, health-social and other institutions towards children.

On this occasion, users of the Internet Accommodation and Day Care Center in Potocari, Srebrenica also marked Children’s Sunday through various activities.

Educational workshops on the topic “Children’s Rights and Responsibilities” were organized, and in cooperation with Bosnian professor Meliha Heric, a workshop “Information and Misinformation” was held.

Together with the students of the First Primary School in Potocari, a sports day was organized and a cross-country and volleyball and football competition was held. Prizes were awarded for the first three places.

The most interesting was the masquerade with about 130 children participating. The children showed exceptional creativity in mask making, and awards were prepared for the most original masks. The Srebrenica Cultural Center hosted a viewing of the cartoon “Rio”.

Celebrating International Children’s Week is a way to show the public the need and obligation of respect for the child and the protection of children’s rights guaranteed by the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child, adopted by the United Nations Assembly.
